Holistic Training That Values the Whole Dancer

RDC's Summer Intensive is designed to empower dancers in an environment that is simultaneously rigorous and nurturing. We value and educate the whole dancer, offering classes in range of techniques alongside workshops and choreographic opportunities that further artistic development. We aim to facilitate sustainable and healthy futures for our students - whether they plan to pursue professional dance or not.

Choreography & Performance

Students will participate in two unique choreographic processes: one lead by an RDC Company Dancer, the other lead by Artistic Director Emily Haussler. Processes will include set material, individual and group creation, and structured improvisation. The intensive will conclude with a performance featuring these students and RDC Dancers.

Classes & Schedule

Students will take a variety of technique classes in ballet, modern, contemporary, floorwork, improvisation, partnering, and more. In addition, they will participate in workshops and rehearsals.

Photography Mini-Sessions with Sam

We are delighted to partner with Sam Fink of Lumosco Photo to offer discounted mini-sessions for our Summer Intensive students!

Friday, June 21st at 4pm at Washington University.

Cost: $60 per dancer

Work with Sam Fink of Lumosco Photo, a St. Louis professional dance photographer who photographs dancers of all stages, from first pair of pointe shoes, to capturing audition photos to submit to summer intensives and university programs, professional dance companies, to independent dance artists and retired dancers. Sam works with dancers all across the Midwest, including St. Louis’s own Resilience Dance Company and Ballet 314.

In these mini sessions, dancers will have the opportunity to gain experience in front of the camera, an increasingly important skill in the dance world. Dancers not only will walk away with photos of themselves capturing their technique and commemorating this moment in their dance training, but will have a boosted level of confidence and comfort in the art of communicating with a photographer.
